Daimler Buses has secured another major order. The customer is Transports Publics Genevois (TPG) from Switzerland. The 87 Mercedes-Benz articulated buses will operate on the 305 km TPG public transport network in Geneva and its outskirts. The company employs more than 1700 people and operates 82 trams and around 320 buses. Most of the vehicles in the bus fleet are from Mercedes-Benz. Delivery will begin in September 2011.

The 17.94 m Citaro G can transport up to 150 people. It is particularly well-suited to operation on busy routes and key routes during peak periods. Its continuous low-floor design, level entry/exit facility and the four wide doors enable rapid passenger boarding and leaving. A disabled space for two wheelchairs is provided for passengers with limited mobility. The vehicles are also equipped with a CCTV system. The Mercedes-Benz articulated buses are powered by the Mercedes-Benz engine OM 457 (h) LA, delivering an output of 260 kW (354 hp). The vehicles comply with the Euro V exhaust standard in the EEV version. The Mercedes-Benz Citaro G deploys the well-established electronic braking system (EBS) in conjunction with anti-lock braking (ABS) and acceleration skid control (ASR). Disc brakes all round and front independent suspension are included as standard.
