Stuttgart – The transport company Tide ASA has placed an order for 37 Mercedes-Benz Citaro natural gas powered articulated buses with EEV compliance (Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle). The low-floor city buses boast low emissions – nitrogen oxides and particles in particular – and fall comfortably within the current Euro 5 emission values. Two performance variants of the natural gas engine M 447 hLAG are available: 185 kW (252 hp) or 240 kW (326 hp).
Specialising in road and water transportation, Tide ASA is one of the largest public transport companies in Norway. The company employs 3700 staff and operates around 1000 buses and 80 ferries – as well as Express Boats.
The Citaro natural gas buses are available in two length variants: a 12 m single vehicle and an 18 m articulated model. The Norwegians have selected the 18 m articulated bus, which has a maximum capacity of 138 passengers.
