40 years of the Mercedes-Benz Türk

Market leader in buses and trucks over 6 tonnes
Mercedes‑Benz Türk produces urban buses and touring coaches at the Hoşdere Bus Plant in Istanbul and light, medium and heavy duty trucks at the Aksaray Truck Plant. In 2006 the company sold a total of 26,900 trucks and buses – an increase of 350% since 2001. Last year 24% of all heavy trucks and over 64% of all buses in Turkey were produced by Mercedes‑Benz Türk. In addition, the company exports buses to over 70 countries and trucks to over 56 countries – primarily to western Europe.

Andreas Renschler underscored the company’s success: “With the products manufactured by Mercedes‑Benz Türk we have been the market leader in the bus market for 40 years, and for five years we have been Number 1 in the Turkish truck market. Our plants in Aksaray and Hoşdere are key locations in our global production network. Together with our 4,200 employees here, we are very proud of this success.”

The company, which also imports and sells Mercedes‑Benz vans and all passenger cars of the Mercedes Car Group (Mercedes‑Benz, smart, Maybach) was the fifteenth largest Turkish company and the ninth largest corporate taxpayer in Istanbul in 2006. Mercedes‑Benz Türk employs 4250 people and a further 2500 people are employed in its nationwide dealer and customer service network.

Beyond its activities in the automotive industry, Mercedes‑Benz Türk sponsors sport and culture projects. The company continues to run its award-winning educational social responsibility project for young women, "Every Girl is a Star".
