The Best 2007 Commercial Vehicles

DaimlerChrysler at the top once again

Stuttgart, 21 June 2007
In the eleventh reader poll conducted by publisher ETM, commercial vehicles from the Daimler AG Group once again earned top ratings. They earned the number one position in six of the ten categories surveyed.

The Mercedes‑Benz Sprinter, the series winner for the past several years, clearly topped the segment "Vans up to 3.5 t" for the eleventh time in a row. It placed first in all reader polls ever conducted by the Stuttgart trade magazine publisher. The Sprinter comes equipped as standard with the adaptive Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which electronically calculates mass and centre of gravity.

A truck model series from the truck plant in Wörth achieved a double victory according to readers’ votes: the Mercedes‑Benz Actros for commercial vehicles in the "Long-haul trucks“ and "Dump trucks up to 32 t“ categories.

The winner in the urban public transit bus category was the Mercedes‑Benz Citaro. This top ranking by the experts highlights the success of the popular urban bus, which has now sold over 17,500 units.

Top honours in the midibus class went to the Mercedes‑Benz Tourino, with the new Sprinter following directly behind.

Amongst the high-deck touring coaches, survey participants crowned another Daimler AG brand, the Setra TopClass 400, as the victor. The Mercedes‑Benz Travego came in second.

Around 8,500 readers participated in the "Best 2007 Commercial Vehicles" poll. The prizes that were handed out were certainly one reason for the increased number of responses in comparison with last year. The main prize this time was a brand new Mercedes‑Benz Viano. The poll was organised by three trade magazines distributed in Stuttgart, "Fernfahrer", "lastauto omnibus" and "trans aktuell" together with Dekra AG. The polling covered 150 vans, trucks and buses in ten categories.
