| As an alternative to diesel drive, Mercedes‑Benz also offers the Citaro with natural gas drive upon request. This drive type also fulfils the EEV emission level and even bears the "blue environmental angel" emblem as a special seal of approval. |
What’s more, the Citaro’s powertrain system leads the way to a cleaner future: by way of 36 Citaro vehicles, buses with fuel cell drive in ten European metropolises, in the Australian city of Perth and in Beijing have now successfully covered a distance of close to two million kilometres.
With its functional evidence for fuel cells, two components examined by Mercedes‑Benz in the past are coming to the forefront: for a target concept of a standard Citaro with fuel cells, a more modern electric drive and a more powerful e-storage are needed. That’s why the Citaro, with its diesel-electric drive and e-storage, is a logical transition on the way to zero-emission city-centre services using the fuel cell Citaro. |
