The independent front suspension enhances driving safety by ensuring excellent straight-line stability. The steering characteristics also benefit, as irregularities in the road surface have less of an influence on the steering. Moreover, the front wheels are not affected by each other if the characteristics of the road surface differ between left and right.
Furthermore, passenger comfort is also improved: the maximum spring travel increases by more than a third from the previous 70 mm to 94 mm while the air spring volume is up by over 10 % to 10.5 dm3. As a result, the new Citaro has extremely smooth and comfort-oriented handling which sets a new standard for low-floor buses. |
