JD Power Quality

The E-Class, S-Class and SL-Class have all been awarded gold in the 2007 ‘Initial Quality Survey’. The study, conducted by the independent market research organisation, JD Power, surveyed almost 100,000 new car purchasers, spanning 250 models and 38 manufacturers. Each customer detailed any of 228 specific faults which may have arisen across eight categories. The E-Class, S-Class and SL-Class all received the top accolade in their segment, and a further coup for Mercedes-Benz was the gold for manufacturing quality, and silver for the factory operations in Sindelfingen.

The quality in the premium segment rose as a whole, improving standards across the board. Despite this competitive arena, Mercedes-Benz leapt a phenomenal twenty places to rank fifth in the overall study. No other manufacturer was able to match such a feat, especially in the short space of one year. Mercedes-Benz is now striving for further improvement, working towards the goal of achieving first place overall by 2010.
