The new Mercedes M-Class is now available with a choice of two diesel engines and a new five star safety rating.
The new ML 280 CDI model sits alongside the best-selling ML 320 CDI. With an average consumption of 30.1mpg (combined cycle) the new 190hp model Is one of the most fuel-efficient off-roaders in its class, yet it still offers excellent performance.
The V6 ML 280 CDI is 1.8 seconds faster to 60mph than the previous ML 270 model and its top speed has been increased from115mph to 124mph. It also meets tax-saving EU-4 emission standards without the need for a particulate filter. Like other M-Class models, the ML 280 CDI is equipped with the advanced 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission which provides seamless changes and allows optional manual changing, Formula 1 style, from the steering wheel.
The Mercedes-Benz M-Class also sets the pace for other off-roaders in terms of safety with its newly developed NECK-PRO crash-responsive head restraints and its PRE-SAFE anticipatory occupant protection system. They helped the M-Class to come through stringent American crash testing with flying colours. It has become one of the first SUVs to be awarded a maximum Five Star safety rating for both frontal and side crashes in US-NCAP testing. |
