The new B-Class is greener than ever. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been significantly lowered and, from September 2008, we’ll make further reductions with new BlueEFFICIENCY models.
Available on manual B 150 and B 170 models, BlueEFFICIENCY versions will offer an 8% cut in fuel consumption and a CO2 reduction of 11 g/km. This is thanks to an array of energy saving measures, including an ECO start / stop function for saving fuel in traffic.
Production methods for the B-Class have also improved. For example, we’ve increased usage of recyclable and recoverable materials and we consume 20% less paint, all of it water-based.
The production plant at Rastatt is further evidence of our ongoing commitment to the environment. Designed to be green, the building’s innovative energy-saving features include a vast photovoltaic roof to harness solar power.
Small wonder then, that the B-Class has joined the A-Class, C-Class and S-Class in receiving the ISO’s coveted ‘Design for Environment’ certificate. This not only covers a vehicle’s emissions during operation, it looks at its environmental impact over its entire lifecycle.
Mercedes-Benz is the only brand in the world to have met the ISO’s exacting environmental standards.
