The B-Class is designed to help you manage emergency situations. Active safety features include ESP®, the Electronic Stability Program, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Brake Assist (BAS).
These systems work together to help you remain in control of your vehicle. ESP® applies the brakes to individual wheels and decreases power as necessary to maintain stability if there is a risk of the car skidding. ABS helps you retain steering control during emergency braking. And BAS applies the maximum braking force when it recognises an emergency braking situation by the speed with which the brake pedal is depressed, thus shortening the stopping distance.
The optional Bi-Xenon headlamps produce higher-intensity illumination than conventional halogen lamps, improving visibility directly in front of the car and at a distance. The bi-xenon option includes automatic headlamp levelling, a headlamp cleaning system, the Active Light System and cornering lights. The Active Light System allows the headlamps to follow your steering inputs. This results in up to 90% better illumination of the bend ahead, allowing you to recognise the line of the bend and any obstacles in your way earlier.
The cornering lights, which are integrated in each headlamp cluster, greatly improve visibility when turning at low speeds or parking, by switching on an additional lamp on the side as required.
Our Steer Control system works in tandem with the power steering to give you increased control in critical situations. By neutralising the effect of oversteer your
B-Class offers a more stable drive.
The on-board Electronic Stability Function (ESP) can instantly assimilate information in any given situation, reacting to changing conditions within a fraction of a second. Through the use of sensors, your car will also warn you of any loss of tyre pressure.
