Whether you choose a manual or automatic transmission, the new C-Class Estate delivers a flawless drive every time.
The 6-speed manual transmission – standard on all 4-cylinder models and 6-cylinder C 230 – offers an exhilarating drive with its short-throw action. It also includes Hill Start Assist, an invaluable feature that helps you move off with ease on an uphill gradient without rolling backwards. The instant your foot moves from the brake pedal to the accelerator, Hill Start Assist calculates whether the starting torque is sufficient and, if necessary, applies the brake momentarily.
If you prefer automatic transmission, the new C-Class Estate offers a range of options. The electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission, for example, adjusts gearshift characteristics to suit your driving style and is optional for all 4-cylinder models.
But it’s the 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission that really raises the bar. It delivers almost imperceptible gear changes and – unlike other automatic transmissions – achieves extra-fast mid-range shifts by skipping individual gears. As with the 5-speed automatic, you can also choose to shift gears manually either through the gear stick or, with the Sport, change gear using the steering wheel mounted gearshift paddles – fitted as standard (only with automatic transmission).
7G-Tronic is standard on the C 280, C 350, C 320 CDI and optional on the
C 230 model, while cruise control is standard with both automatic transmissions.
