Those working with nature reap the benefits: natural materials play an important role in the production of the seat upholstery in the new C Class Saloon. These consist of 15% pure sheep’s wool - the result is an improvement in the moisture absorption capability and a positive seat climate. Through the use of renewable raw materials, the use of fossil resources like coal, natural gas and crude oil is kept to a minimum. As a further benefit, natural materials are almost carbon neutral in terms of energy recovery because the amount of CO2 released is equivalent to the amount absorbed by the plant during its growth.
The new C Class Saloon has been constructed to facilitate recycling so that vehicle material waste is avoided, as well as taking back the vehicle at the end of its life, and the recycling of the vehicle and its components. Within the recycling concept of the new C Class Saloon, vehicles which have reached the end of their lifespan are prepared and disassembled, the raw materials of individual components are recycled, metals separated out and non-metallic leftover materials are treated separately.
In fact, the new C-Class Saloon is able to boast a recyclability rate of 85% and a recoverability rate of 95% in accordance with the ISO22628 calculation model.
We also take our recycling commitments seriously with our dealers: through the MeRSy recycling system for workshop waste, used parts and parts exchanged under warranty as well as for packaging materials. Technically, a Mercedes was always a shining example for others to follow - the best reason to also be the leader in environmental protection.
