The new CL-Class now features adaptive brake technology as standard. This features a hold function – which keeps the car stationary without the driver needing to keep pressing the brake pedal – and Hill Start Assist, which prevents the car rolling backwards in that moment when the driver is moving their foot from the brake to the accelerator.
Other adaptive brake features are:
Brake drying. This removes the moisture that can accumulate on brake discs in wet conditions. Braking distances are therefore shortened.
Priming. As soon as the driver lifts their foot from the accelerator, the brake pads make slight contact with the discs. This anticipation helps reduce the stopping distance when the brakes are subsequently applied.
