Rain sensing wipers are standard on the CLK-Class Coupé. The electronically controlled sensor, located behind the rear-view mirror, transmits an infrared beam onto the windscreen.

The beam is reflected back differently according to the amount of water there is. The system then adjusts the wiper interval according to the intensity of the rain.
