To ensure the atmosphere is always pleasant throughout this spacious interior, the R-Class features a high-performance climate control system. Standard in the
R-Class Luxury tourer, the automatic climate control allows separate climate zones to be set for the driver and front passenger areas.

For enhanced control, the luxury automatic climate control system (standard on the
R 500 L) allows different air distribution to be set for the left and right sides of the vehicle, as well as the rear passenger compartment. It also includes additional sensors for sun, pollution and humidity. The system regulates the airflow and temperature according to the angle of the sun’s rays. The sensor system can also recognise poor outside air quality and close the ventilation flaps when necessary.

The luxury automatic climate control can be supplemented by the rear control unit located in the centre console, which allows the rear passengers to control the air distribution and temperature of the rear compartment. This also includes additional air outlets in the sidewall panelling in the third seat row.
