In 2005, the S-Class became the first car in the world to receive an Environmental Certificate from the TÜV Institute in Germany. Since then, each new version of the
S-Class has won this coveted award – testament to Mercedes-Benz ongoing commitment to environmental performance.
In awarding this prestigious certificate, the TÜV assesses a vehicle’s environmental impact throughout its lifecycle – from production through to disposal. They take into account a range of factors, from fuel consumption and exhaust emissions to the use of eco-friendly materials.
The latest S-Class excelled on all counts, with the new S 350 BlueTEC leading the way. One of the cleanest diesel engines available, it combines exceptionally low nitrogen oxide emissions with CO2 emissions from just 164 g/km and fuel consumption of 45.6 mpg.
Designed with the future in mind, it already complies with EU6 emission standards due to be introduced in 2014.
