 | | No visit to this corner of Germany is complete without spending some time in the beautiful Black Forest. With its rich and varied history, it features castles, palaces, churches, and monasteries, as well as numerous museums, all bearing testimony to the past and present. Especially worth mentioning are the palace in Rastatt itself, modelled on Versailles, and Baden-Baden, the world famous spa resort.
On your return journey you may want to visit Reims and Epernay, in the heart of the Champagne region, for some truly great food and wine. While you're close, why not take a detour and spend a few days in Paris? Or, a slightly different route would bring you back to the Channel via Brussels, notional heart of Europe and a true culinary delight. And of course, if you're in Brussels, you really should visit the fabulous nearby medieval city of Bruges with its charming canals and wonderful chocolate shops! |
