Children under 3 years of age MUST travel in a child seat appropriate for their weight, in both the front and rear of vehicles (with the exception of the rear seats in taxis). If an appropriate child seat is not available they are not allowed to travel.
From the age of 3 to 12, a child’s height is the deciding factor. All children up to 135 cms (approx. 4’5”) in height must also use an appropriate child seat or booster cushion. This means that a 7 year old who is 140 cms tall may use an adult seat belt. An 11 year old who is 130 cms tall must use a child seat or booster cushion.
