There are many simple ways you can help keep your tyres in good condition and keep your Mercedes-Benz running smoothly.
Damage
Check for cuts, cracks, tread wear, bumps or bulges regularly. If you find any damage, arrange to have the tyre(s) replaced as soon as possible. Your local
Mercedes-Benz Retailer can help you find the most suitable tyres for your car.
Tyre pressures
You should check your tyre pressure regularly, particularly if you think it might be low. Low tyre pressure can affect your car’s braking, road grip and tyre life. Remember that recommended pressures vary according to load or speed so check your
Mercedes-Benz handbook for guidance.
Tyre tread
The minimum legal depth for tyre tread for cars in the UK and EU is 1.6 mm across the central three quarters of the tyre tread width, although we, at Mercedes-Benz recommend that they be maintained at 3 mm.
Replacing tyres
When you need to replace a tyre, it’s best to change all four at the same time. This isn’t always a practical or affordable option, so try and replace the two front tyres or the two rear tyres as a pair, because replacing just one can adversely affect your car's handling. If you would like advice on replacing tyres, your local
Mercedes-Benz Retailer will be happy to help.
Wheel balancing
Make sure the installer balances the wheels when you have new tyres fitted. This improves riding comfort and tyre life.
