Building safe cars is the supreme goal of our safety philosophy, which also encompasses measures that help to minimise the consequences of an accident. Along with the familiar protective systems, such as airbags or the high-strength passenger compartment, these measures also include numerous technical innovations.
Providing key information to the emergency services also forms an important part of our work. Detailed knowledge of our vehicles and their safety systems help emergency services reach injured persons more quickly, saving more lives in the process.
In 1994 a set of guidelines for the emergency services were launched, containing information on certain vehicle and safety functions and specific means of access.
The latest version of these guidelines are available to download from the link below. It covers the many new Mercedes-Benz vehicle models and safety innovations - everything from occupant restraint systems, Keyless-Go access and the drive authorisation system, to new materials and fuel-cell and natural-gas drive systems. |
