Protecting the environment and conserving the natural foundations of life are fundamental values of Mercedes-Benz Trucks. We are continuously developing our technologies to improve our truck’s fuel efficiency and fulfil their duty to care about our environment.
In 2011, we launched the Atego Hybrid, a truck which combines the latest diesel technology with a lithium-ion battery powered electric motor. Aimed at the distribution market, in trials the Atego gave fuel savings of up to 15% compared to a traditionally powered truck, as well as reduced emissions. You can find out more about this by using the left hand navigation.
In 2012, with the introduction of the first new truck to meet Euro VI, the new Actros, we enter a new dimension. When compared to its predecessor, today’s Guinness World Record Holding Actros, the new model has improved fuel efficiency of up to 7%, whilst Euro VI is up to 4%. When tested on real roads, in real weather conditions the fuel consumption results were even better. Our improvements to the new Actros ensure we deliver class-leading fuel efficiency as well as lower CO2 emissions.
In addition to our commitment to fuel efficiency and the natural environment, we’re focused on reducing the everyday noise pollution that we experience on the roads. Our Motor Stop Start technology, fitted as standard on Atego and Axor up to 240KW, assists with both of these goals.
The pursuit of excellence, through research and innovation, underscores our philosophy of environmental care and sustainability.
