Every day some 400 trucks leave the Wörth plant - with a vehicle rolling off the line every 3 minutes. This is how we continue the long tradition of Mercedes-Benz trucks, born when the first one was invented in 1896. In line with our 100 year tradition, our vehicles have remained trend setting in terms of technology, safety and economy.
The Wörth plant is the origin of high mobility worldwide. "Made in Wörth" trucks transport goods and services on all five continents, thereby making their contribution to a mobile future.
Today with a workforce of around 10,000 Mercedes-Benz is the second largest employer in the Rhineland-Palatinate region and is the largest assembly plant worldwide for trucks exceeding 6.5t gross weight.
The production process comprises cab body shop, paint shop, trim line and vehicle assembly. All areas of production are based on the model-mix principle. This guarantees consistant utilization of the three assembly lines.
Wherever possible computer controlled fully-automated equipment is used to ensure consistant quality and optimum production times.
More than 2.8 million Mercedes-Benz trucks carry the "Made in Wörth" badge - a symbol of quality. Around 60% of Wörth production is exported to more than 150 countries.
In October 2005 the 400,000th Actros rolled off the production line! |
