 | A text message from Mercedes-Benz CharterWay dealership Northside Truck and Van will see Ikea kitchen installers save thousands of pounds in fleet costs annually.
When DTW Installations was contacted with details of the Mercedes-Benz CharterWay Vito Panel Van No Sweat campaign, director Damian Womersley calculated the switch from rented Ford Transits to the Vito fleet would save his business around £10,000 a year. Damian and his team of 24 installers were also keen to upgrade to the more premium vehicle and signed up with Northside for nine Vito vans.
Under the operating lease deal, Mercedes-Benz CharterWay customers were offered the Vito panel van from less than £60 per week with free air conditioning and metallic paint. Features of the Vito include an onboard service computer, minimum running costs due to its powerful diesel engine as well the highest safety features as standard. A three-year unlimited mileage warranty offers additional peace of mind.
With an operating lease the vehicle is hired for a fixed period and the monthly payments are calculated based on the difference between its initial value and its projected residual value, plus associated finance charges. This means only a proportion of the vehicle’s value is repaid, sparing the client from expensive outlays.
Damian said while the Vito was smaller than his previous Ford fleet, it still allowed his team to offer customers their kitchen recycle service.
“The deal from Northside is providing us with a massive saving,” Damian said. “We have always been so busy running our business that we have traditionally never had time to follow these deals up when they arise. But, the Northside dealership has always kept us well informed on relevant opportunities; in this case they brought a vehicle out to us for a demonstration and then the paperwork. We never have to make follow up calls and with a busy day job, you couldn’t wish for much more than that as a small business owner.”
The former Ikea Nottingham maintenance manager was invited to tender for the Sweden superstore’s kitchen installation business in April 2005, after working for the retailer since its Nottingham launch 10 years previously. Damian and his wife Tracey, won the business, and over the subsequent two years have grown their business alongside Ikea’s own popularity boom. DTW Installations now covers the Nottingham and Birmingham regions, and is hoping to win the Coventry tender with its launch at the end of the year. Currently, the Ikea installation service providers fit 10 kitchens across the Midlands a week.
Northside’s sales executive Ryan Strafford said the dealership would continue to work with Damian to ensure his fleet evolved alongside the DTW Installations’ business needs. “Damian and Tracey’s business has grown in leaps and bounds alongside Ikea’s UK success and we hope to continue to work with their team to ensure their fleet is safe, reliable and able to cope with demand,” Ryan said. “Mercedes-Benz CharterWay finance ensures flexibility is maintained for the life of the contract to accommodate changes within our client’s business.”
