| In addition to a robust, durable design that enables easy body mounting and an extremely low kerb weight, the Actros frame now benefits from two further outstanding features. On the one hand the innovative integral rear on air sprung tractors, described in detail in a separate section. On the other hand the all-new front end. When designing the new front end of the frame, a decision was taken to change all remaining riveted joints to bolted connections, thus making all parts much easier to replace and, therefore, even less expensive to repair.
Furthermore, the front under-run guard has been weight-optimised. Another advantage of the Actros frame is the higher position of the headlamps, which are now located well away from the major impact "danger zones" on the front spoiler. |
- side members in three different thicknesses – 7 mm, 8 mm, 9.5 mm – depending on GVW/GCW
- standardised frame taper and 50-mm hole pattern, enabling precise, rational body planning and standardised bodies on rigid models
- corrosion protection provided by cathodic dip coating
- wheelbases ranging from 3.9m to 6.0m on rigids, depending on model and 3.6m & 3.9m on tractors |
