| All 2- and 3-axle Actros trucks are fitted with LS8 single-circuit hydraulic power steering as standard, whilst all 4-axle versions come with a dual-circuit steering system. In both cases, steering gears with variable ratios ensure impressively low steering effort regardless of steering lock - for precise and energy-saving manoeuvring. Weight-reduced forged parts and grey iron castings make the steering system extremely reliable. In addition, the Telligent® maintenance system constantly monitors the fluid levels in the steering gear and the hydraulic system, thus enhancing safety.
All in all, the Actros steering system is impressive for its low steering effort, excellent directional stability, precise response, optimum handling and, last but not least, its reliable and durable construction. |
