Digital Tachograph
Digital Tacho
The new digital tachograph records all relevant data, such as the amount of time spent driving and at rest, road speed and rpm. This data is stored on the memory chip of the driver card and in the device’s memory from where they can be read electronically.
Digital tachograph driver cards are now available. Application packs for driver cards can be ordered from DVLA by calling 0870 850 1074. They can also be obtained from local DVLA offices and VOSA testing stations.

A photocard licence will not be needed to get a Driver Card. However, DVLA suggest the application process may be quicker if a photocard licence is used for the application.
