A lesson in ride comfort

The three suspension variants

Full air suspension, a combination of steel springs at the front and air suspension at the rear, as well as steel suspension all-round – with these three suspension variants, the various Axor models are able to meet the requirements expected of a state-of-the-art truck, regardless of its intended application: namely, excellent roll resistance and directional stability, precision roadholding, a comfortable ride and maximum grip.

In the case of air-sprung Axor models, the wide set position of the air bags minimises the tendency to roll, which in turn benefits directional stability.

The Telligent® self-levelling suspension allows vehicles with full air suspension to be raised by approx. 170 mm and lowered by 90 mm, a feature which really comes into its own whenever coupling and uncoupling swop bodies with differing ground clearances.

Rigid trucks with air suspension all-round and a power output of up to 240 kW (326 hp) can be ordered with the optional Telligent® roll control – this automatic shock absorber control offers added comfort and safety, as well as cushioning the load during transit.

Steel-sprung Axor models are fitted with low-noise, lightweight parabolic springs that use maintenance-free, rubber bushes. In addition to this, the leaf springs are coated with a zinc dust primer to protect them against corrosion. This is one of the key factors in the long service life of the overall suspension system.
