 | The Unimog with rail guidance is the ideal partner for both road and rail applications. Its powerful diesel engine, high-performance transmission, all-wheel drive with differential locks and a torque converter for smooth starts, allow the Unimog to haul loads of up to 1,000 tonnes on track. It is also capable of carrying specially-designed access platforms for overhead maintenance, As well as vegetation control mowers and cutters, personnel carriers and many other solutions.
The Unimog’s rail guidance system is based on two rail axles that are hydraulically lowered to the tracks and effectively change the vehicle from being an all-terrain truck to a powered rail vehicle. Traction is provided through the Unimog’s rubber tyres, creating a very high friction co-efficient and enabling the compact and highly manoeuvrable vehicle to pull or push wagons. The inherent payload of the Unimog will carry a range of tools and equipment, including the drawbar for haulage.
And when it’s not required on rail, the Unimog simply drives off to become a hard working on and off-road worker.
