| | | Climate change and the Unimog |
Rising global temperatures will bring changes in weather patterns, rising sea levels and increased frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. For the UK and Europe, climate change means hotter, drier summers, milder wetter winters and higher sea levels.
For the fire and rescue service, this means an increased risk of wildland fires in the summer months and flooding in the autumn and winter months. A one-vehicle solution to tackling this multi-faceted problem would tick the ‘best value’ box with most fire and rescue services. The Unimog all terrain vehicle from Mercedes–Benz could be the answer you’re looking for.

| | | | Contractor Fullers back on the road |
Fullers Contracting, an agricultural haulage business forced off the road for using fast tractors illegally, is back in business – with three new, all-terrain Mercedes-Benz Unimogs.
“When we were told we could not longer use the fleet of eight fast tractors all I could see was the business disappearing,” said Matthew Fuller. “We decided that the only way out of this was to invest in fully plated and tested heavy goods vehicles – and the fast tractors could not be plated or tested because they are agricultural vehicles.

“Grass growing patterns are changing and grounds maintenance operators need powerful tools that can by sent into action in a wide range of locations and conditions, quickly and effectively,” says Mark Hopkins, Director of Mercedes-Benz Unimog UK.

| | | | New winter tyres for Unimogs |
A new, high traction tyre for winter roads, specially developed by Mercedes-Benz Unimog and manufacturer, Continental, is now available for the entire Unimog range: the U300, U400 and U500, and also the U3000, U4000 and U5000.
The new Snowflake-branded tyres improve traction on winter roads: giving Unimog drivers even more confidence as they operate snowploughs and salt spreaders or snow blowers in the harshest weather conditions.

| | | | Unimog ‘stars’ at film premiere |
And the star of the show is … yes, the Mercedes-Benz Unimog U400. Some stars arrive by limo, some just walk the red carpet, but for Kenny the Movie – a spoof documentary about mobile toilets – it just had to be the Unimog that delivers loos to almost every big event.

| | | | Unimog for Hall Plant Hire |
In the UK it is illegal for an agricultural tractor to be used on a road as part of a business, unless it is their own farm. The solution is a vehicle that is capable of operating like a truck on roads, but also has formidable off-road ability. And that means the Mercedes-Benz Unimog.
Derbyshire farmer Tim Hall has found his Unimog solution not only keeps him on the right side of the law, but he is also achieving fuel savings amounting to more than £32,000 a year, as well as running a very successful plant hire business.

| | | Consumers tend not to think about their electricity except when there is no power to make a cup of tea or turn the television on. Distribution Network Operators, on the other hand, have to think about customers all the time.
In the South East and East of England, EDF Energy operates a fleet of more than 60 all-terrain Mercedes-Benz Unimogs, several of which are fitted with hydraulically operated, insulated access platforms. The latest additions are four Unimog U400s fitted with an Altec TA41D, and a U500 with a Versalift VST5000MHI insulated access platforms and telescopic booms.
