| | Move from Boehringer to Daimler-Benz |
By the summer of 1950 Boehringer had produced around 600 Unimog, whose trademark was a stylised ox-head with U-shaped horns. A large investment was however required to increase the production volume, and this was beyond the resources of Boehringer.
Bearing in mind the professional background of the development team, the inevitable therefore happened: in autumn 1950 Daimler-Benz took over the entire project including the patents, the development team and the new marketing organisation. The Unimog was relocated to its present home, the former truck plant in Gaggenau. |
