 | Kilmarnock FC has welcomed a dynamic new German signing, in the shape of a new minibus based on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van.
The stylish 17-seater is the latest in a select team of vehicles bearing the famous three-pointed star, to be owned by the Scottish Premiership side.
All arrived via Ayr dealer Caledonian Trucks, which has established a close working relationship with the club since supplying its first minibus in 2005.
The latest is based on a Long-bodied, high-roofed Sprinter 515CDI, a 5.0-tonne vehicle powered by a smooth and fuel-efficient 150hp common-rail turbodiesel engine. The van was transformed into a minibus by Elite Coach Conversions, of Doncaster.
It is now being used to ferry youth team players to and from away matches, as occasional transport for staff and directors, and for corporate events at The Park Hotel, which is owned by the club and is adjacent to its Rugby Park stadium.
Kilmarnock FC's latest Mercedes operates alongside a four-year-old minibus based on a previous generation Sprinter and a two-year-old Sprinter van, which is used to transport equipment.
"We're delighted with our new minibus," declares Club Secretary Kirsten Callaghan. "It's very stylish and comfortable, and if it's half as reliable as our other Sprinters we'll be more than happy.
"It will probably do quite a lot of miles, as the team could be playing in Inverness one week and Aberdeen the next, so the fact that it came with an unlimited mileage, three-year warranty is an added bonus."
Kilmarnock FC is also delighted with the service it receives from Caledonian Trucks. "They're a pleasure to deal with and their after sales service is second to none," says Kirsten. "We see no reason to go anywhere else for our vehicles." |
