The decision to order a new Mercedes-Benz Vito was an open and shut one for Norwich-based Cooks Blinds and Shutters Ltd.
The company, which installs and services its wide range of products across East Anglia, was already operating five larger Mercedes Sprinters.
Like its predecessors, the new Vito 111CDI Compact was supplied by city dealer Orwell Truck and Van.
The Vito is the ‘baby’ of the Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle range and comes with a market-leading, unlimited mileage, three-year warranty. Comfortable and car-like to drive, with electric windows, remote central locking with ‘comfort’ closing and a radio-CD player as standard, it bristles with safety features, including the remarkable Adaptive ESP® anti-skid program and ABS anti-lock brakes.
Cooks Blinds and Shutters’ new Vito has entered service alongside four Sprinter panel vans – a 311CDI Long, 208CDI Medium and two 208CDI Shorts – and a 311CDI chassis cab, which has a dropside body by Commercial Bodies, also of Norwich.
“Our new Vito is going to be a very useful asset,” says Managing Director Martyn Cook. “Mercedes vans have been part of our fleet since 1979 and we’ve always been impressed by their reliability,”
The family firm was established in 1965 and employs more than 50 people. It manufactures supplies and installs blinds and awnings, along with industrial doors and shutters, security products, garage doors, curtains and tracks. It also maintains and services its products under contract, with customers benefiting from a 24-hour emergency call-out service.
Mr Cook continues: “The long service interval required by Mercedes vans and the fact that the dealer is able to maintain our vehicles outside normal working hours, means that we keep downtime to a minimum. As a result, we can provide a better service to our own customers.”
“We have built up a great relationship with Orwell Truck and Van over a number of years,” adds Mr Cook, “and will certainly be buying more Mercedes vans in the future.” |
