 | A Fife-based business delivery service is backing its new fleet of Mercedes vehicles to keep it on the road to success.
Legal Post, which carries a huge variety of goods and documents including vital files for the legal profession in Scotland, has plumped for 17 Mercedes vans from Edinburgh dealer Western Commercial.
The firm has purchased 15 Vito 111CDIs and two larger Sprinter 311CDIs on a leasing arrangement with Appleyard Vehicle Contracts.
Replacements for its previous fleet of Mercedes, they are being used primarily to transport paperwork securely across a network of 218 exchanges – covering over 2,000 members throughout Scotland. The vans are on the road through the night, delivering from Kirkwall in Orkney to Stranraer in the south.
John Yorkston, Managing Director of Legal Post and also the Chairman of Scottish Premier League side Dunfermline Athletic FC, believes the reliability of its Mercedes vans is an important factor in the firm’s success.
“We are delighted to continue our association with Mercedes,” he says. “Legal Post is a Scottish success story and our Mercedes fleet plays a key part in the high quality of our service.”
Legal Post, which is based at Dalgety Bay, in Fife, was formed in 2001 and is part of the First Scottish Group. The company provides members with a secure and cost-effective mail exchange network and specialises in the legal and finance sectors. Its clients include major banks, building societies, solicitors, Government departments, local authorities and the emergency services.
Legal Post orders replacement vans on a cycle of every two years. This is the third time that the company has renewed its van fleet with Western Commercial.
General Manager Fred Vaughan explains: “The Mercedes name is associated with reliability and quality. The vans are comfortable and very much like a car to drive, but with a better viewing position. They also boast a comprehensive array of safety features.
“We receive excellent back-up from Mercedes-Benz, which is important because together our vans clock up a million miles each year.
“When we were looking to replace our fleet we compared Mercedes vans with other manufacturers’ products and the Vito and the Sprinter came out on top in most categories."
The vans feature added security in the form of electronic slam locks on the rear and side doors, and tracker systems. |
