Water treatment specialist Managed Water Services has tapped into the reliability offered by Mercedes vans.
The company has bought two Vito 111CDI Compact vans from the Bradford outlet of Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealer of the Year Northside Truck and Van.
Run by business partners Ben Szyczak and Keith Smith from offices in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and Chelmsford, Essex, respectively, Managed Water Services works for both commercial and domestic customers nationwide.
The firm undertakes water hygiene operations for the likes of oil giant Shell, as well as shopping centres and nursing homes. Tasks include cleaning tanks, monitoring temperatures and checking plumbing on large-scale water systems.
The firm is using its new Vitos to carry equipment such as pipes, fittings, chemicals, tools and ladders to sites.
Technical Director Ben Szyczak reckons the three-pointed star has the edge over competitors because of its combination of brand prestige and outstanding reliability.
“We chose Mercedes because our vans have to cover the whole of the UK, and will each rack up at least 30,000 miles a year,” he explains. “So we cannot afford to have them off the road.
“Mercedes-Benz is renowned for its quality, reliability and durability. We have tried vans by other manufacturers in the past but none of them came up to scratch.
“The Vito is also a very smart-looking vehicle, which is important given that we are carrying out sub-contracting work for major companies.”
Managed Water Services was founded by Ben and Keith two years ago. Both had previously worked for more than a decade in the water industry.
