Vito Sport gets upwardly mobile

A Somerset mobility equipment specialist has gone sporty by becoming one of the first customers in Britain for a dynamic new van model from Mercedes-Benz.

Mobility Services, which is based in Chard, has bought a Vito Sport 115CDI Dualiner from Yeovil dealer Commercial Motors. The company supplies a variety of mobility products for the elderly and disabled such as stair-lifts, scooters and even walking sticks.

Managing Director Andrew Foden says: “The Vito Sport is very nice to drive but I already knew what to expect from Mercedes-Benz because I also have an E-Class estate car.

“I previously ran a van supplied by another manufacturer, but it was not up to the standard of vehicles that bear the three-pointed star. The Vito is smart enough to use for visiting clients and has the perfect amount of load space.”

Mobility Services, which also runs two smaller vans and two cars, supplies its products to customers throughout the south-west.

The stunning new Vito Sport 115CDI mixes has been designed with business and pleasure in mind, by offering a package that’s truly the best of both worlds.

Its specification includes luxury touches such as cruise control, air-conditioning, a leather steering wheel and electric windows, as well as exterior features such as 17-inch alloy wheel with low-profile tyres, fog lights, metallic paint and extensive chrome trim.

Vito Sport models are powered by torquey yet frugal 2.2-litre, common-rail turbo-diesel engines, driving through six-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmissions. The model is available in Compact or Long body lengths, as a panel van with dual front passenger seat, or – like Mobility Services’ new van – as a Dualiner with an additional row of seats in the rear. The added flexibility provided by this extra seating means that Dualiner variants are proving particularly attractive to ‘lifestyle’ buyers.

Like all Vitos, the new model comes with an arsenal of safety equipment as standard, including traction control, ABS anti-lock brakes with Brake Assist and electronic brake force distribution, and the latest Adaptive Electronic Stability Programme.

All new Vitos now qualify for a class-leading, three-year, unlimited mileage warranty. This replaces the previous warranty, which was limited to 125,000 miles, and brings the Vito into line with its ‘big brother’, the Mercedes Sprinter, which also enjoys three-year, unlimited cover.
